i’d jump at any chance to leave the country. even if its just a short weekend trip away. this deepavali weekend, im going away to Kuala Lumpur… with the 987 DJs. we’re prob just gonna party and eat and repeat until we fly back to singapore on sunday.
need good makan recommendations. preferably the local food type stalls. we’ve already got Jalan Alor on our list. ive been getting recommendations to check out Bangsar too.. but Bangsar’s more like cafes and restaurants right? where’s your favourite makan hangout in KL? please share and also include address/directions. spaaaanks! xxx

Try Devi’s Corner in Bangsar for their Banana Leaf Rice! I’d recommend their crab curry, but it’s a little bit iffy. As in, once out of every three times would result in a tummy ache.

Hi Rozz,
I dont mean to be a groupie but i listen to your show when i drive, and my friend showed me your blog like 2 days ago in class. confession: read the whole damn thing from start to finish last night. Love your candor, its so refreshing! anyways, went to KL twice this year, and stayed at Reggae Bar. it’s super popular with the backpack-set (we were once en route to vang vieng, like 10 of us from all over the world, and once just 2 of us…either ways its fab).
Its LITERALLY a reggae bar. with super chill locals, lots of eager beaver travellers, u can eat pizza, have buckets and shisha all night to the tunes of bob marley and the like. there’s a pool table too and the freakin walls are covered in reggae memorabilia. Defo a vibing joint.
I’ts located in a super central part of KL, like really close by to chinatown, very walkable (hence popular). Opens till late so go there for predrinks or when u wanna chill. and LET ME KNOW HOW IT WENT.
cheers!

Before you head back to sg, drop by a place in JB called Banafee Village.
it’s really near jb-sg customs and holiday plaza. johoreans called it the high class mamak. They have really good salted egg crab and ayam penyet.
Petaling St in KL has lotsa good food ; beef noodles! If you happen to be in subang area, try South Sea Seafood, a tad pricy but quality seafood is what you’ll get there.

Hi Ross… Do check out Hutong at Lot 10 Bukit Bintang.. Its a food court which is aimed at housing all the most famous hawker stalls around Malaysia under one roof (its air conditioned too
… you have the most famous Klang Mo Sang Kor Bak Kut Teh manning a stall there… the yummy Hon Kee porridge from Petaling Street… mouth watering Song Kee beef noodle… tasty Kim Lian Kee fried hokkien mee fried with charcoal… springy Ho Weng Kee wanton noodle.. and the ever satisfying Campbell Road popiah as well… Do give the place a try.. advisable to go early as most items will propbably be sold out by dinner time…
Have a great gastronomic adventure!!
Anywhere in Malaysia is better in most Singapore food places. It makes you grow fat like a huge sphere
Personally, the Sek Yun Restaurant in Jln Pudu is awesome with huge variety of addictive fish, duck ( they used charcoal to cook their food). In KL itself, the Loong Foong Restaurant in Old KL serves delicious beef noodles. This place has been found since 1956. Another place would be Jalan Alor, or when in Petaling Jaya, try the Greenview Cze Char Restaurant that is famous for Sang Har Mee, and LASTLY, go shopping in KL like pavilion or sunway pyramid as these are WAY better than malls at Marina Bay at least and bigger than Vivocity
would love to see your pictures on what u guys ate in msia!
and what u thought was awesome
